40 Days of Purpose- Day 4
Here we are on day 4 already! This chapter is is called “Made to Last Forever.” We were created for eternity. Not just to live here on this earth. God created us to spend eternity with us. That is just another way that He has shown His love for us. Who would you love so much that you would want to spend forever with them? God loves us that much!
This life, here on earth, is not all there is! If today were the last day of your life and you knew that, how would you live differently? That is a tough question. I would want to know that I did everything that God wanted me to do. I would want my family and others to know how much I love them. I would prepare for the future for my family as much as I could so they would know what to do when I was gone. I would want to touch as many lives for Christ as I could.
I want to do this each and every day of my life.
The question in the book asks, “What is one thing that I should stop doing and the one thing I should start doing today?”- Knowing that we were created for eternity. How can we answer this question with Heaven in mind and not focusing on things on this earth so much? We do have to focus on some things while we are here, like having a job and money to pay for food and a place to live and a car. But what should our main focus be? My answer to this question- I would stop worrying so much! To stop letting fear be in the driver’s seat of my life. What should I start doing? I should start trusting God a lot more! I should look at my problems in a new light. Knowing that God has a purpose for them and that He will work things together for good, because I do love Him and I am called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28!
How about you? What things would you do differently? I encourage you to take the time to ponder on this and give God your answers. Allow Him to be in charge of your life and let Him show you what your purpose is while you are here on earth.
My prayer is that God will help me to focus on the things that He desires me to focus on and that my perspectives in my life will change. No longer worrying about things that I cannot control and giving God my life and my plans to use for His purpose.
Even though this is a short lesson today, it is powerful. It is time to make some decisions that will impact your future for God. Maybe you are already in that place where God is using you and you know your purpose. That is great, how can you help others who are not there yet? Is there someone God has laid on your heart to talk to about their purpose? Maybe they are not a Christian yet and God is leading you to speak to them.
I encourage all of us to follow the Lord and His leading in our lives and to purposely pay attention to what He is calling us to do.
