Have You Ever Questioned God Why?
Why? Such a tiny little word, but such a big question! Why- defined: for what cause, reason or purpose?
If you are at all like me there are many times in your life when you have asked God why. There are so many circumstances in our lives that we do not understand what God is doing. It doesn't make sense to us. Especially why we are going through the problem or trial.
It's this conversation with God that we have trying to gain an understanding and deciding if it was worth it to us. Why God? Why would You choose this (... fill in the blank...) to happen to me? Why not someone else who is so much stronger than me, who can handle it better? Why God? Why did you hand pick this trial for me?
In Job 1:8 it says, "And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?" So, Satan goes on with this conversation with the Lord and basically says that Job is faithful to God because God has blessed him and given him so much and has protected him. He tells God that Job will curse Him to His face if He were to take away the things that Job had.
What I want you to see here is that God handpicked this trial for Job. He even went to Satan to make it happen. What a mean God you might say? Oh no, you see, He was allowing Job to prove to Satan that he would still choose to love and worship God no matter what! Nothing was going to stop Job from serving God no matter how bad things got in his life. If you look at the end of Job's life in chapter 42:10 we see that God gave Job twice as much as he had before. Verse 12 says that God blessed his latter end of life more than the beginning. Wow! God is so good!!
Sometimes I imagine if there were a book in the Bible that had my life story in it. That would be kinda cool right? What would it say about me? Would I be like Job and remain faithful to God? Would I cave in to Satan's pressure and give up on God? What would your story say? Would it encourage or discourage others? Life has some pretty tough moments, but we can always decide to choose God. No matter what! It was not just Satan that Job was proving himself to, it was all of those people who were watching his life.
Whether or not God answers your why or mine, we can trust that He knows what He is doing. God has a plan and a purpose for our lives. So, on those tough days when the trials are weighing heavy, remember this guy named Job who also had some tough days, but in the end, God blessed him and took care of him every step of the way. He will do the same for you and for me.
Why; for what cause, reason, or purpose- I think all of our trials can be answered with: the cause= for God to prove Himself to us, for us to prove our faith to God. The reason: to show Satan and others that we are not going to back down and cave under the pressure. The purpose: to glorify God and praise Him for the trial no matter what the outcome is and to show others that we are children of God. Children of the most High and Mighty God, who wins every single battle and gives the victory!
Whatever you are going through today, or whatever is headed your way that you do not even know about yet; God knows and He already has a plan all worked out! Trust Him, He loves you!
